Newbridge Food Co-op or Newbridge OOOOBY is the 2nd OOOOBY group in Ireland, the first one starting in Wicklow in association with Carraig Dulra.

Standing for ‘Out of Our Own Back Yard’ the OOOOBY group is based on the Food Co-op ideals of sourcing local producers and suppliers of local, tasty, affordable and if possible, organic food.

NOOOOBY also encourages members to bring their own produce, and most of our goods are now coming from members of the co-op. NOOOOBY is a not for profit, voluntary group, run by a group of interested locals, who feel strongly about where their food comes from.

Producer Profile: Moyleabbey Organic Farm

Moyle Abbey are one of our two organic vegetable suppliers for our organic vegetable box scheme which we run as part of our NOOOOBY group. beautiful veg, grown in our home county, you can't get much more l0cal than that. And with the hungry gap coming to an end, the veg boxes should be really tasty over the next few months.

We are a family run organic vegetable and fruit farm managed by Liam Ryan and Yuki Kobayashi. We started converting the 13.5 acre farm to certified organic production in August 2003 and achieved full organic status in August 2006.
The land is based in the townsland of Moyleabbey, nearby to the historic Quaker village of Ballitore in County Kildare. It lies halfway between Naas and Carlow just off the N9. It is ideal land for organic vegetable production, it has a gentle slope and is naturally very fertile having been in grassland for over 15 years. The soil is a deep sandy loam, which is good to work in many different weather conditions. It is very well suited to a wide range of vegetable crops as well as such fruits as strawberries, which we have planted this year and apple trees, which we are planted this winter.
